Day 1 - Feb 28, 2025 - Return to Sikkim : A Journey Through Serenity and Splendor

There’s something magical about returning to a place that once captured your heart. This year, my wanderlust has led me back to Sikkim—a land of towering mountains, misty valleys, and vibrant monasteries. Though I have explored its beauty before, the thrill of rediscovering its hidden corners fills me with the same excitement as my first visit.

Over the next nine days, I’ll be venturing through the peaceful town of Ravangla, soaking in the breathtaking landscapes of Pelling, unraveling the history of Yuksom, and embracing the charm of Kalimpong.

Stay with me as I take you through this mesmerizing journey, sharing moments, reflections, and the sheer joy of being back in one of my favorite destinations.

Day 1 Feb 28, 2025 : A Bumpy Start, A Serene End

Every journey has its own rhythm, and mine began at the break of dawn in Chennai. At 6 AM, I made my way to the airport, where I indulged in a full-fledged breakfast for just ₹2 at the traveler’s lounge, thanks to my Tata Neo card—a small yet satisfying start to what promised to be an exciting adventure.

Touching down at Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, I was greeted by a waiting cab, pre-booked to take me to Ravangla, my first stop in Sikkim. Nestled at 7,000 feet above sea level, this quaint little town was a good five-hour drive away. But the journey was not as smooth as I had hoped—turbulence plagued my entire flight, and the seatbelt sign never seemed to go off. The motion sickness from the rough ride had me stopping en route for a quick, involuntary "break" (let’s just say, my stomach was not happy).

Once I got some fresh air, we made a pit stop at a local restaurant for a light lunch before heading to Kali Mandir—a quiet, spiritual detour that felt like a much-needed breather. The temple, perched on a hillside, offered a calming contrast to the chaos of the morning, setting the perfect tone for my arrival in Ravangla.

By evening, I checked into Buddha Park Residency, my home for the next two nights. The temperature had dipped to 5°C, a sharp contrast from Chennai’s warmth, but the stunning view of Buddha Park from my stay made the cold worthwhile. The golden glow of the towering Buddha statue against the darkening sky instantly washed away my exhaustion.

With a cozy bed waiting and an adventure-packed day ahead, I called it a night—ready to embrace the magic of Sikkim once again.
